What is Chlamydia?
- Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection
- Untreated Chlamydia can cause infection in other parts of the body, sometimes with damage or serious long-term complications such as infertility
Chlamydia symptoms
Most people do not have symptoms but if you do have any symptoms make an appointment at your local sexual health clinic.
In women
- A vaginal discharge that is different than usual
- The need to pee more often
- Pain on peeing or during sex
- Pain in the pelvis or lower abdomen
- Any irregular bleeding between periods or after sex
In men
- A discharge from the tip of the penis
- Pain and/or burning when peeing
- Irritation at the tip of the penis
- Painful swelling of the balls (testicles)
